A Little F'd Up | Posted by Julie Z on 04/8/2009

for when you’re supposed to be doing homework

So I love blogs. Obviously.

I’ve got the old standbys- Feministing and Jezebel for my feminist desires, Huffington Post for my relevant and serious needs, and Stuff White People Like and Diablo Cody for funsies. But I’m always looking for new blogs, just for fun. Thought I’d share a few.

1) thisiswhyyourefat.com

Absolutely disgusting food that clogs arteries with fervor. I would also like it if they could post the recipes for some of them. Because I LOVE food.

2) failblog.org

Known to be sexist (the shirt with the washing instructions “give it to your wife it’s her job” HAHA no.) but still over all pretty fricken funny.

3) icanhascheezburger.com

pirate lolcat

It’s hard to make me laugh. I don’t like puns, I don’t like irony unless it’s really clever, I generally don’t like anything that’s supposed to be a joke. But these, these for some reason I really enjoy.

4) fmylife.com

FML

FML

It’s official. If you haven’t heard of this blog you live under a rock. But no worries, it’s never to late to join the fun and submit a fake FML like the rest of us already have. Or better yet, you could submit a real one!

But the best part about these blogs is that you can submit content to any of these sites. I challenge you to flex your feminist muscles and throw some girl power up onto these blogs.

Honestly, I’m pretty sick of reading female submitted FML’s that are about how someone called them fat or ugly. Not to say that the guys fare much better on this site, but the situations are pretty gender typical. Or maybe through up a fail in the form of sexism. I know plenty of guys who fail and say sexist stuff all the time. Unfortunately.

Anyway. Put down that math homework and start contributing…

I read FML sometimes, but in a way it disgusts me. I no longer read the comments because they hurt too much. I noticed that anytime a MAN posted about getting cheated on, comments included words like “bitch” and “ho” and “you don’t deserve her.” Anytime a WOMAN posted about getting cheated on, comments usually said “it’s your fault for not putting out.” That’s SO not okay. God.
