Don’t Be a Band Creeper

It seems that people these days don’t have lives. Its too bad really. I’ve become increasingly aware of this fact because lately i’ve realized that the obsession rate with some musicians and bands is reaching insane proportions.

Okay i’ll admit, I’ve been obsessed with musicians, until very recently actually. I wouldn’t say that I was of the stalking status. I mean they’re celebrities people know shit about them, and its not like I went looking for information that wasn’t already given. I mean its fun to fantasize about going to a concert and having the lead singer of –insert band here– just falling, head over heals, wear my ring, forever and always, love at first sight, in love with you. Because you just look so beautiful in the glow of

The 50 Million Missing Campaign

For a few years now, I’ve been tracking the practice of female feticide in rural India. I’ve always been incredibly interested in Indian culture- I even speak a little bit of Hindi (not well) and follow the Indian feminist movement, which contrary to many people’s beliefs, is a strong one.

However, the problem of female feticide persists, and according to the UN this problem is getting worse.

Female feticide is the act of aborting female fetuses solely because of the culture’s adamant preference for boys. The most common reasons for this male preference are because of the high price of dowries and overall opinion that women are burdens. The fact that men can inherit property and carry on the family name only adds to the misogyny.

The act …

Rihanna and Chris Brown

Let’s talk about dating violence!

No, seriously. I don’t think I have to recap the Rihanna / Chris Brown debacle but just in case, here’s what allegedly happened in 15 seconds or less: There was a txt message from some girl to Chris Brown asking for a booty call, Rihanna saw it and got angry, they argued, she got out of the car, he pulled her back in and started to hit her. Violence ensued.

Let’s just get this out there: VIOLENCE IS NOT OKAY. IT IS NOT OKAY FOR A GUY TO HIT A GIRL, EVER.

But apparently this situation, aggravated tenfold by the stupid media, got even worse.

According to this article “Teenage Girls Stand by Their Man.”

One girl said that she “thought she [Rihanna] was lying …

Happy Easter

So many holidays this week…and yet I didn’t get any days off of school. Lovely. Anyway I hope everyone pigs out on candy today. Yes, the only way I can qualify most every holiday is by food. =)

I tried to find a video for Easter because I found one for Passover. I don’t really do cutesy videos and this was the best one.

Btw, there are some really creepy Easter related videos out there. Who knew?

for when you’re supposed to be doing homework

So I love blogs. Obviously.

I’ve got the old standbys- Feministing and Jezebel for my feminist desires, Huffington Post for my relevant and serious needs, and Stuff White People Like and Diablo Cody for funsies. But I’m always looking for new blogs, just for fun. Thought I’d share a few.

1) thisiswhyyourefat.com

Absolutely disgusting food that clogs arteries with fervor. I would also like it if they could post the recipes for some of them. Because I LOVE food.

2) failblog.org

Known to be sexist (the shirt with the washing instructions “give it to your wife it’s her job” HAHA no.) but still over all pretty fricken funny.

3) icanhascheezburger.com

It’s hard to make me laugh. I don’t like puns, I don’t like …

Miley Cyrus is glamourous!

I don’t want to be a hater. I also don’t want to give off the impression that I specifically hate Miley Cyrus, because in reality I don’t hate Miley Cyrus. I don’t know Miley, and besides her proclivity for mentioning Jesus and purity a lot I bet we could be really good friends. Why not.

But I seriously have a problem with her being on the cover of Glamour magazine. She is sixteen years old. Glamour magazine is a magazine for adult women. I’m honestly not sure what angle they’re taking on this one…(more)
