a pointless article about Ukranian women
hey there pretty ukranian lady
Biden: “[Ukranian women are] the most beautiful women in the world. That’s my observation.”
To me, a sufficient response to that comment would be a sigh, an eye roll, understood disappointment that such a comment came from our VP. But, no, the New York Daily news thought this comment deserved an entire article. But not even an article on the stupidity of this comment. What follows is 350 words of supposed proof that Ukranian women are beautiful.
With quotes like, “He came, he saw and he told the truth,” said Vlada Khmarska, 20, who lives in Odessa for the summer. “Everyone who visits Ukraine says so – Ukrainian girls are beautiful.”
and
“I think he nailed it,” added Sasha Sobolyewa. “The women there are beautiful – tall and lean.”
What. the. hell? I’m just disappointed all around right now.

What upsets me about this is that this perception, and the propagation of this perception, has helped make Ukraine one of the major origin countries for sex trafficking. Yes, Ukrainian women are beautiful, but they’re also human, and the objectification they suffer has only increased the demand for their illegal exportation from the country.
So, really, what Biden should have said was, “Ukrainian women are beautiful. They also hold 60% of the college level degrees in Ukraine, but aren’t given equal economic opportunity because Ukrainian society still sees them as nothing more than mothers and housewives. So, stop looking at them as gorgeous symbols of Society’s Standards of Beauty and start treating them like the people they are, so they stop trying to find jobs in the west and end up getting forced into prostitution.”
End rant. I just wrote a paper on this, it makes me cranky.

But of course, we don’t really no what exactly Biden said in Ukraine, because there are no articles about it! All the media chose to scrutinize was his pointless side comment.

oh but he’s so very correct in his brilliant observation. the Vice President of the US meets with the Prime Minister of another country and all the NYT can report is that he was turned on by the girls he saw. nice.

Ugh! I notice this pattern with every Youtube video of a woman who looks “ethnic.” It goes like:
“[Insert country] women are the most beautiful women in the world.”
I believe this applies to every Youtube video of such and will most likely be one of the top comments. ?__?
