Jennifer’s Body
So the trailer for Diablo Cody’s new movie about a possessed cheerleader who seduces her male classmates then kills them was just released.
Bad news: I can’t embed the video from youtube. so you can’t be ultra lazy. awww.
Good news: click here to watch it on youtube, where it hasn’t been removed yet (yayyy)
LOOKS. SO. GOOD. *excited fit of giggles at the thought of diablo’s sense of humor revived and applied to a horror movie genre ensues* Especially since horror movies are so often disgustingly sexist- it’s nice Diablo’s turning it on its head. I like.

thanks for that “anonymous.”
but also, it was written by a woman, directed by a woman and is starring 2 women! a pretty rare feat.

Ugh. Gotta say I disagree on this one. I am not a fan of Megan Fox.

why, why WHY pick the most embarrassing actresses who for some sick reason “symbolize sexuality”? compared to the openly feminist ellen page, not your finest diablo.

SO THRILLED that it is a Hole song for the title
Honestly, this movie is gonna be so great. Girls killing horndogs with some Courtney Love thrown in there. When they played Doll Parts in “Juno” I screamed in the middle of the theater, from pure joy

The story looks awesome, but I’m kind of iffy on the extreme sexualization of Megan Fox in the preview- it feels like it’s trying too hard to appeal to horny teenage boys, even if there is a kick-ass message behind it.

I am really intrigued by this movie. I looks like it could actually be very entertaining (I don’t normally like horror movies). I do have some issues with Megan Fox, but I will have to get over that for this movie. I will probably go see this to support movies made by and starring women (a rare occurrence), but I’m still debating whether the film is feminist. I definitely see some feminist potential in the trailer, but I will have to see how they handle it in the movie. But I’m a big fan of Diablo Cody, so I’m hopeful.
I wrote more about the feminist implications of the trailer at my blog. Here is the link: http://youngfeministadventures.blogspot.com/2009/07/if-women-make-movies-is-it.html
