My parents are divorced, and lately my mom has been picking up a lot of these books. I’ve been reading them with her out of curiosity, but neither of us can keep from cracking up. So much of this advice is ludicrous, especially the “never tell a guy you’ve slept with more than three men” rule thats in the majority. Even if you’re monogamous within your relationships, like my mom, thats a pretty tiny number after age 30. To be sure, its right for some women. But the majority have slept with so many more men(and maybe women, too, which these guides like to ignore) At my mom’s age, early 50s. or as any adult woman- or hell, even teenager- shouldn’t we have more respect for ourselves than to feel that what/ who we’ve done is so dirty we have to lie about it?

It’s frustrating that these dating guides tend to pick one stereotype of what a woman should be and push everyone to be that. Where is the capacity for choice and individuality?

I find this refreshing. I stumbled on this site while researching a bit and will surely visit back. I’m into dating, well, not litterally since I’m married, but rather in an accidemic sort of way. I find it an interesting subject, and also enjoy reading what others have to say about it. I’ve never been a success myself, but I did find somebody.. on-line, the perfect somebody and am now happly married. For those still in the game, good luck too you. Umm.. sorry for rambling.. anyhow, I will check back often.

I am a shy man and have a hard time meeting girls when I go out. I have found online dating to be helpful, but you still need good dating tips and advice to be able to handle any situation. I liked what I read on here. Keep up the great work. On-line Dating Advice for the Lonely Man
