As many of you may have already heard, the movie Precious based on the book Push by Sapphire, comes out today.

It looks amazing, to say the least. There has been a lot of hype around this one, but I think this might be one to actually live up to it.

Here’s the trailer:

Now tell me you don’t want to see that immediately.

Also, the actress who plays Precious, newcomer Gabby Sidibe, seems like just about the coolest girl ever.

Here are a couple of truly awesome quotes:
“They try to paint the picture that I was this downtrodden, ugly girl who was unpopular in school and in life, and then I got this role and now I’m awesome,” says the actress. “But the truth is that I’ve been awesome, and then I got this role.”

“I learned to love myself, because I sleep with myself every night and I wake up with myself every morning, and if I don’t like myself, there’s no reason to even live the life. I love the way I look. I’m fine with it. And if my body changes, I’ll be fine with that.”

And also – a great article on feministing about Precious.

And then, her appearance on Ellen that truly made me want to be her best friend:

I’m definitely going to try to see this as soon as possible (then review it…of course!). I hope you all do the same!

I had never even heard of this movie but it seems like a good movie. I love the Ellen clip, She’s so bubbly! It’s a great contrast from the movie.

I saw her on Ellen too. Can’t wait to watch “Precious”, “The Fourth Kind”, “Whip It”, and “Jennifer’s Body”. Gabby is such a good dancer!
