Assuring everyone I know to vote right. Telling them about the Fair Tax, the jeopardies of Obamacare and the largest tax increment that will take place if we don't get ridded of the Democrats in force by voting them out!

Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I'm more of a visual learner

If MLK was alive: he'd be half happy and half horrified. Happy about a president of black descent and that some of us are conscious of the racism in society and trying to make things better and bettering ourselves and tolerating other people. He'd be horrified about the racism of plenty of groups and the birthers and tea partiers and at Fox News and reality tv. But I'd think that he would log onto this site and beam with pride that young people like us are trying to make the world a better place.
Here's a link to a cartoon by Masheka Wood about MLK's birthday and what it means to some people. I think y'all will get a kick out of this and I'm sorry that you can't just click on the link.

Wow - I didn't even know that Martin Luther King day was a day... That's amazing.

I think that the best way I've heard this kind of thing summed up is in Brad Pailsey's "Welcome to the furture";

"I had a friend in school
Running Back on the football team
They burned a cross in his front yard
For asking out the Home Coming Queen

I thought about him today
And everybody who's seen what he's seen
From a woman on a bus
To a man with a dream

He-ey, wake up Martin Luther,
Welcome to the future"...

I think if MLK could see us today, he'd be embarrassed.
We watched a really fabulous documentary the other day by HBO Films... "Mighty Times: The Children's March" about how adults in Birmingham, 1963, were unable to participate in demonstrations out of fear of losing jobs, having cars repossessed, or homes foreclosed (due to institutional racism)... so the students took up the cause. The first day, Bull Connor had 900 arrested; the second, just under 2000; the third, over 3500. It was the images of minors being harmed that finally forced JFK's hand... and yet, we never hear about it in our history books.
Bottom line: we've become complacent. In the 1960s, all kinds of change took place. In the 1970s/80s, we adjusted to that change and understandably felt the aftereffects of previous discriminatory behavior. Here, fifty years later, has all that much changed?
I know our elders make up a significant portion of the population, but unless they're approaching 100, they've lived since the Civil Rights Movement at least as long as they lived before it. The assumption (logical conclusion?) is that racism is passed down through the generations... and must stop.
There are two schools of thought: (1) As a society, we *cannot* be racist; look at who our president is... and (2) The president is *one man* and his having been elected changes very little for the daily interactions of those of us down here in the trenches.
(I started off wanting to give my $.02, but wound up closer to a dollar... sorry...)
