The commercials are funny, but I have to disagree with the idea that “sexting” is always “self-disrespecting” or a bad choice. If a couple has a trusting and honest relationship, it’s no different from phone sex except for the fact that the material sent can be saved.

So it’s a leap of faith and of trust, like so much in relationships. I acknowledge that it’s probably less likely for that trust to work out in teenage relationships, so I don’t really have a problem with the commercials telling teens to -think- before they text. I actually agree with them. But I do believe that dirty texting is a perfectly healthy and acceptable thing between consenting and comfortable adults.

Actually, I think telling other people how they can and cannot use the phone is one of the most “self disrespecting” things one could do to themselves.

As for the beard issue, I would be offended if females were the only ones depicted in these commercials. Seeing as males and females are receiving a beard–a very James Lipton specific beard–the commercials are obviously spoofing James Lipton and his thoughtfulness. It’s not like he’s walking around handing girls penises and then implying that they are smarter as a result.

Sexting is one of the most self-disrespecting thing one could do to themselves. It’s great that the media is putting out this commercial in a light and funny way, that draws audiences in. Although this is a very important concern for all teens out there, I don’t understand why a beard makes these girls are boys more mature, and thoughtful. The gift for growing facial hair– testosterone. It’s a chemical both men and woman can produce, but woman can’t in that kind of quantity can’t (unless they’re in the curious, and many young kids are staring down back at her with curious goggly eyes).
So, this commercial is implying that men are the ones that can be mature?
Bullshit.

They were somewhat funny…But I really think they should do more about the “sexting”. (for example, when the guy was dumped he could have been thinking about sending dirty photos of hi ex).
I mean rumors can come to an end after a few weeks…but photos stick around for ever.
Highschool rumors wont wreck chances at getting a career, naked photos of you will.

I really don’t find these THAT funny, but I get the point they’re trying to make, and it’s a good one! I think SOME ONE needs to address that teenagers are a little too careless when it comes to texting and IMing and stuff!

I’m usually the type to find PSAs as being ultra-preachy, or divided between ultra-liberal & ultra-conservative viewpoints depending on which one is airing at the moment, but these are really well-written, funny and they get a very good point across to the ill-advised bunch out of the many texting teenagers out there.
