Support Women Artists Sunday: The Puppini Sisters

Deja vu is a sensation that can give you the jitters, that’s why The Puppini Sisters, a trio from England, deliver for a special Spooky version of SWAS this week. The Puppini Sisters do a 1940s harmony cover of popular songs, delivering a double dose of eerie deja vu-the feelings of an era past and a head scratching when you hear a song you’ve heard on the radio in a completely unique way.

ANYWAYS. The members are Italian Marcella Puppini and English Stephanie O’Brien and Kate Mullins. Although the three are not related, they chose their name in tribute to The Andrews Sisters. Puppini first studied fashion design at St. Martins School of Art, and later music at Trinity College of Music where she met Stephanie O’Brien and Kate Mullins. …

exercising the right to be sexy

Halloween season has begun. Today, I went to the brand new Halloween Store that opened two metro stops away from campus with my friend Lauren, and I did a tally of all the “sexy” things I had the option of being for Halloween: saying them, of course, as I walked past, in a sultry seductive voice (it drove the people in the store nuts). I had the option of being a sexy cop, a sexy robin hoodette, a sexy taxi cab driver (really? Are some taxi cab drivers particularly sexy? Not in my experience), a sexy bumblebee (again, last I checked this was not a sexy thing), a sexy ladybug, a sexy supergirl/catwoman/spiderwoman, a sexy mobster, flapper – you name it, I had the option of being a sexy version …
