Let me see if I have this…

There exists something called the “Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009” in Uganda and through this bill, if you are gay you can receive life in prison, execution through hanging and even 3 years in prison for knowing somebody is gay.

There is a group of political Christians (debatably a “secret” society) called “The Family” which includes Chuck Grassley, who has had influence in Uganda, and my BFF Stupak, who I guess took money that was to be used for causes in Africa, and instead put it into abstinence only sex education methods.

Richard Cohen runs an organization called the “International Healing Foundation” which has been linked directly to the Kill the Gays Bill. Cohen denies any association or support of the bill, though he makes claims that are very similar to those in the bills such as homosexuals  are a risk to young children. He is also not licensed, but was kicked out due to ethical financial relations.

Salon reporter Mark Benjamin makes the points that “reorientation” efforts link homosexuality to a freudian root (wanting to be closer to a mother/father) and that while the definition of homosexuality is the desire to have sex with the same sex, success stories in the “de-gaying” movement are defined by not physically having sex with the same sex.

I could say so many things right now. And yet at the same time the only thing going through my mind right now is a string of expletives.

Why can’t people just accept others? Why is that so hard for the world? At the very least, why can’t we just not try to control things that are not actually a part of our personal lives?

And seriously? Christianity was the motivation behind the Kill the Gays Bill? I don’t know that much about Jesus, it’s true, we’re not super tight, but I have this funny little feeling he wouldn’t have felt so great about legislating murder not based in any type of crime but rather based on a part of a person’s life. WHAT THE #@$#%@#$%!#@$!@#
