But I Want To Have It All
having it all
It’s my nature to think in the long term. Even though I am fully aware that at the age of 18 even though I can drive, rock the vote, and go to war I still have a lot of time before I have to think seriously about having kids and/or a career. I know I want to have both: kids and a successful career that will allow me to make the world a better place. Which is why after reading Anne-Marie Slaughter’s article Why Women Still Can’t Have It All in The Atlantic I felt seriously discouraged. Blast From The Past

I was at my friend’s house working on a project for school. It was getting late so her mum made us dinner. At the table, my friend’s dad was ordering her mum around and asking for things to be brought to him. Now, it was all in good fun, but it still bugged me a little bit because it reminded me of the times that Betty Friedan discusses in “Feminine Mystique.” And then, to make matters worse, my friend’s mum started talking about how she just lost her job.
